Braces Treatments Offered in Wilmette

Every smile is as individual as the person it belongs to, and your orthodontic treatment should be, too. Dr. Spector offers patients in Wilmette the most cutting-edge treatment options to help them achieve the smiles of their dreams.

metal braces

Today’s metal braces aren’t like those of the past, and Dr. Spector’s patented low-profile metal braces are light years ahead of the pack. They are sleek, comfortable and highly efficient.

ceramic braces

For patients looking for the efficiency of metal braces, but slightly more discreet, ceramic braces are a great option. Designed to blend in with your natural smile, the brackets are made of clear or tooth-colored materials.

lingual braces

Lingual braces provide all the efficiency of metal braces but are totally invisible to others. That’s because they are designed to fit over the tongue side of the teeth, making them totally hidden from view.

id clear aligners

iD Clear Aligners by SureSmile are Dr. Spector’s expert take on clear aligners. They are more efficient and effective and require fewer office visits than Invisalign.

invisalign braces

Invisalign clear aligners offer an excellent way to get the smile you’ve always wanted without drawing more attention to yourself. The aligners are clear, comfortable and removable, making treatment a snap.

Wilmette Orthodontic Care for Patients of All Ages

Dr. Spector and iDentity Orthodontics provide highly customized, efficient and effective treatment for Wilmette patients of all ages.

Orthodontic Treatment for Children

The American Academy of Orthodontists recommends that children visit an orthodontist for the first time by the age of seven. Ther allows the orthodontist to see how the smile is taking shape. Beginning a relationship with an orthodontist can ensure your child’s growing smile is always taken care of, and if treatment is needed, it can happen at the time it will have the most impact.

Orthodontic Treatment for Teens

Dr. Spector provides cutting edge treatment options that even teens will love. With options like iD clear aligners and Invisalign, teens don’t have to worry about orthodontic treatment getting in the way of living their best lives.

Orthodontic Treatment for Adults

Healthy teeth can be moved at any age, so it’s never too late to get the smile of your dreams. And with the treatment options offered to Wilmette patients, there is sure to be one that can fit into your busy lifestyle.

Retainers Provided by iDentity Orthodontics for Wilmette Patients

Retainers are a very important part of your orthodontic treatment, working to retain your teeth in their new locations. Dr. Spector offers removable and fixed retainers for her patients in Wilmette.

Removable retainers

  • Hawley retainer – a metal wire that goes over the teeth to hold them in place and a plastic piece that sits on the palate
  • Essix retainer – a clear and removable retainer that looks like a clear aligner

Bonded or fixed retainers

Fixed retainers are bonded directly to the teeth and can only be removed by your orthodontist. They are used in patients who have a high indication of relapse.

Your teeth may be feeling unaligned. Or, it could be the retaining wire keeping them in place is too loose. We recommend making an appointment to get your retainers checked!

How to Handle a Braces Emergency in Wilmette

During the course of your treatment, you may encounter some minor emergencies. True orthodontic emergencies are very rare, but some of the most common issues that may arise can be taken care of at home.

  • Orthodontic treatment is not without a bit of soreness or discomfort. If you experience pain or soreness after your braces are placed or after an adjustment, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever to help. Warm saltwater rinses are also a great way to provide relief. Use orthodontic wax to cover any areas that irritate the inside of your mouth.
  • If a bracket should come loose, don’t worry – it can be bonded back into place at your next visit. In the meantime, if it bothers you, you can use orthodontic wax to hold the bracket in place.
  • If a wire is poking you and causing pain or irritation, use a pair of sterilized nail clippers to clip off the offending part of the wire. Then place orthodontic wax over the area.

If you experience a true emergency or have any questions, contact iDentity Orthodontics Wilmette Location.
