We Offer SureSmile

GRAYSLAKE, Round Lake, GURNEE AND Waukegan, ILLINOIS – Traditional braces can be a long-term commitment for some. Treatments can last an average of two years.

That long time span could be keeping adults and teenagers from getting orthodontic treatment. Many don’t have two years to hand over, and different bumps in the road could prolong treatment longer.

SureSmile allows an orthodontist to visually define the desired position of the teeth, and calculates all customization needed to deliver the planned treatment path. The customized arch wires are created by SureSmile robots.

“The treatment time can be cut down by 30 percent, which can save you eight months,” says Grayslake orthodontist, Dr. Michael Stosich. “The quality of the treatment improves, as well.”

Robots are used to customize each patient’s archwires. It is able to heat the wires and bend them more precisely than human hands, resulting in a reduced treatment and improved outcome.

“The great part about this type of treatment is being able to create a beautiful smile more precisely,” says Dr. Stosich. “With the use of 3D technology for diagnosis and treatment planning, a plan can be created where the teeth move more gently and efficiently.”

Each SureSmile robot creates a treatment wire under the orthodontist’s specifications, and the special wires are then activated by the patient’s body heat.

Dr. Stosich explains differences of traditional braces and SureSmile.

1. For traditional braces, the patient comes in to get their diagnostic models done. This includes X-rays, impressions and creation of a plaster model. SureSmile uses 3D technology to create a computer model of your teeth.

2. With traditional braces, the final position of your teeth develops over time. With SureSmile, the final position of your teeth is planned from the beginning.

3. The archwires for traditional braces are bent by hand, requiring many trips to the office for adjustments throughout treatment. With SureSmile, once your orthodontist determines your SureSmile treatment, the robot is directed to bend a Shape-Memory Alloy wire.

During his residency, Dr. Stosich was one of the few doctors in the country to receive special training from the creator of the SureSmile system.

“We essentially have a robot as our assistant,” says Dr. Stosich, also an expert provider of Invisalign treatment. SureSmile is reinventing the way some orthodontists do their treatments. Reducing treatment time isn’t about moving your teeth faster. It is about moving them more directly to the intended position.

Not only does this treatment prove to shorten your treatment time and decrease office visits, it gives you a beautiful, customized smile designed just for you.
