Schedule An Orthodontic Consultation Today – No Referral Needed

orthodontics consultation

North Shore, IL – Did you know that you don’t need to wait for a referral from your dentist to see an orthodontist for the first time? If you have concerns about your smile, or about the way your child’s smile is taking shape, you can schedule an orthodontic consultation with the orthodontist of your choice today.

“Many patients mistakenly believe that they must receive a referral from a dentist before scheduling an appointment with our office,” says Dr. Stosich. “However, almost all major insurance plans to not require a referral, which means you can schedule an appointment to talk to an orthodontist about treatment any time you want.”

The Importance of Age Seven

It is recommended that everyone visit an orthodontist for a consultation by the time they turn seven, as laid out by the American Association of Orthodontists. Seven is the ideal age because the child will have a mix of permanent and baby teeth, and the orthodontist can start to get an idea of how the smile is taking shape. If there are discrepancies in jaw growth, the orthodontist can intervene while the jaw is still growing to make additional treatment easier and more efficient.

This is important to know, especially as a parent. If your dentist doesn’t give you a referral, or if your dentist tells you it isn’t necessary to see an orthodontist yet, you can still schedule an appointment for a consultation.

“For many patients, visiting an orthodontist as early as seven is crucial,” says Dr. Stosich. “This doesn’t mean that we will need to put a full set of braces on your child at such as young age. But it does allow us to take the necessary steps to ensure your child has the most ideally developing smile. Interventive treatment may not be indicated right away, but we can monitor your child’s growth and then begin treatment at precisely the right time to have the most impact.”

What Is iD Kids Next Generation Program

Stosich Consulting offers iD Kids Next Generation, a growth and guidance club for iDentity’s youngest patients. The program is free of charge and open to children of older than seven. Your child will visit Dr. Stosich every six months so dental and facial growth can be monitored. The club includes in-office monitoring, as well as at-home digital monitoring. This approach allows Dr. Stosich to catch any developing issues early enough that the least invasive treatment options can be used to correct the problem.

While orthodontic treatment can be completed at any age, children, even those with the most severe malocclusions, have the most ideal environment for correction. This is because the jaw is still growing, and that growth can be guided to ensure the permanent teeth have an ideal environment in which to erupt. This early intervention then makes the straightening phase of treatment more efficient and effective.

If you have concerns about the way your child’s smile is taking shape, you don’t have to wait for your dentist to offer a referral. Dr. Stosich and his team at Stosich Consulting are ready to begin building an orthodontic relationship with your family. This will ensure set your child on the path to the healthiest, most stable smile.

Orthodontics for Adults

If you are an adult who is seeking orthodontic treatment, you’re not alone. Today, nearly one in five patients is over the age of 21. And if you’ve lived with a less than ideal smile your entire life, there is no time like the present to begin your smile journey. Check out our adult orthodontics info page here.

A misaligned bite, teeth that are crooked, crowded or misplaced, can lead to dental issues that may end up costing you more in the long run than orthodontic treatment would. Straight teeth aren’t just for cosmetics – they are easier to clean properly, leading to better oral health. A bad bite can lead to issues such as decay, gum disease, enamel loss, chipping, cracking and breaking. Not only that, bad bites can cause issues with chewing, biting and speaking.

Orthodontic treatment is important for more than cosmetic purposes only. Orthodontists work hard to create beautiful smiles with stable, properly functioning bites. This is turn creates a smile that is able to work in an ideal manner and easier to care for.
